Here is Part II

Actually my neighbor came to know of the fact that his daughter is likely to undergo menstruation during the preparation phase. He then asked her to have some tablets (English medicine) to advance it for his convenience. The tender one just attained puberty sometime in the middle of last year. Most people think that it is an easy task to get the process advanced, stabilized or postponed the way they think. Forcing such processes to postpone or advance could make the menstruation worse. One does not have to do anything to stabilize it. It just happens on its own, but just because it happens on its own one should not take it for granted and disturb the flow. I have seen several friends of mine suffering from hormone imbalances and other related problems. Few girls make use of contraceptive pills to break the tissue bearing egg. This initiates menstruation. It is a forceful and as well an unhealthy way of triggering menstruation. Though it is unhealthy there is no other go. Shocking is not it? Yes it really is. There is one other thing that I would like to add here. I have heard from one of the doctors stating that even the perfectly prescribed medicine is never perfect. “Let the chips fall where they may” and that is the kind of effect one should expect of English medicines. English medicines just force Biochemistry and Bioorganic Chemistry to pose war one over the other. You know where the quarrel is happening, just inside your body. That being the case, tablets for postponement or advancement of menstruation could instigate adverse effects as well.

In India, in the name of such practices several families are affected because of the one man who shows enormous interest in such religious aspects. Such practices are termed as “worships” in India whereas other countries have given it a different terminology. They claim it is a sign of the mental retardation “the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder”.

During the time I wrote this article, close to 100 men died in a stampede in Sabarimalai (a pilgrimage in Kerala, India). I feel bad for the families that would now be suffering without the earning member of the family. They will be losing the head of the family both financially and emotionally. What would happen to the children of those houses? Who will educate them anymore? There are fine chances that their fate could change in unsupportive of them. Had the men who died in the stampede given a first thought about the family and second thought about visiting the pilgrimage, they would have preferred/ decided not to go there. There is no much difference between the Mumbai 26, 2008 terror attack and such mishaps. Death tolls are more or less the same and the only difference being, in terror attacks people are destined to die and in such pilgrimage accidents people destine themselves to die.

Such untoward incidents continue to happen until superstitiousness prevails in India and until man understands the real essence of life. Heart just pains to see such accidents. May their souls rest in peace, well how could those souls rest in peace even after knowing that their families are going to suffer.
