Most horrible days of my life II

Continues from Most Horrible days of my life.

When we were proved positive to leptospirosis, we were told we had to undergo a course of medication that constituted of 24 drips of some stupid medicine which was supplemented by another medicine to overshadow the adverse effects. I and my mom lied weak and emaciated. We saw angels in reality; they came across to us and took real good care of us and that was the only good thing that happened during hospitalization. We just stayed still the whole day; that day of admission made me absolutely exhausted. My backbone was certainly not in my control, I realized I was not able to erect it. My father fed me some liquid diet rich in starch that releases instant energy. I saw his love in his eyes and care in the way he fed us; he fed both me and my mom. Everytime my dad fed me I puked the whole stuff and nothing added to my energy, neither to my health. My brother on the other hand purchased everything I wanted.

It was the start of the day 2, I felt a way better even when the temperature continued to show up on and off, nonetheless I managed to erect my spinal chord. To the best of my knowledge, my mom was also able to cope up to the infection and she fought it to her best. I never knew that the worst was yet to come; I became handicapped due to the excruciating pain that sprung up in my fractured leg. To make it worse, menstruation cycle commenced; with the bathroom being a step higher to the floor, everytime I hit the lavatory I had to hop with my right leg. With my urge to use the loo, when I made an attempt to walk towards it I saw a dark cloud emerging from nowhere to block my vision. Before I could realize I was fainting, I was half through it and almost collapsed to the ground. On my way to the ground I made a loud roar; a desperate endeavour to let someone know that I was in need of help. One of the angels showed up and pulled me with her arms underneath my arms, when I reached the bed I regained my conscious. She gave me a smile and enquired about my status and I answered her to the best of my conscious. Then I decided I had to wait until my brother turns up to the hospital. I gave him a list of requirements; my sweet brother who is 5 years younger to me with no hesitation grabbed the list from me and purchased everything from the menstrual pad to my innerwear. All I saw was just love in the disguise of my brother. He was attenuated by tonsils, it took every energy out of him until his twelfth standard, I was the one to take care of him as and when he required help, perhaps he gave it back ten times and more during his turn.

It was close to 8 am, I borrowed my brother’s shoulders to fortify my locomotion to the bathroom. Everytime I stood on my own I saw the dark cloud layering just like that, I decided to hold my conscious and kept chanting “I am not fainting”. Nevertheless when the dark cloud evolved I used to catch hold of something very tight and concentrated to clear off the cloud until I placed myself safe somewhere. Everytime I picked up the brush and stood in front of the mirror the cloud appeared and kept reappearing until the fifth day of hospitalisation. Whenever I saw a trace of the dark cloud I rushed hopping to the European commode and rested over it for a while until I felt better.

Health was getting better day to day; as the trips were administered I started smelling the medicine in every burp after my meals. In the fear of visiting the bathroom often with an unbalanced motion I reduced the intake of water. However  it was not an issue as there was a plenty of liquefied medicine that was administered and that took care of the hydration problem, therefore I did not suffer any digestion or urinary infection. On the other hand, there was a major complication that I underwent. My hand was very thin to withstand the drips. It could not take more than 3 drips a day. After every third drip, my vein that bore the administration pin got swollen up. One fine day the matter got worse; now it is another bunch of sisters who took care of us. They appeared like devils in my weak eyes as they always roamed around without much patience. They lacked the characteristics of a girl and of a nurse. My poor hands fell prey to the vicious experiments of these funny monsters. My vein bulged; in an attempt to find another one they punctured my hand here and there everywhere. The procedure is to administer a micro-diameter mouthed cone into one of my veins and look for blood through the cone by inserting the administration pin. As I reduced the intake of water, there was no moisture and the vein never showed up. I got my hand held by a little devil and another devil who backed up the administration twisted my flesh alone to discover some vein. This brutal act accompanied by administration of administration pin was perpetrated four times until they found the right vein. And when the administration and drips for that while was over the little mischievous sister forgot to lid the administration pin. Blood pumped back from my vein and found a way to leak out through this pin. Blood blood everywhere; on the bed, on the floor, on the bedsheet and everywhere and she rushed in to lid it up. Most horrible days of my life; my mom who suffered from infection suffered more seeing me suffering like this. She was quite stout; therefore things were not much worse as worse as it was for me. Nonetheless, the worst thing for her was to see her daughter undergo so much right infront of her and at the top of it all she could just see her daughter suffer but couldn’t help it.

Worst days of my life were coming to an end. Not just the good things, all bad things also come to an end. The sixth day – the last day of my hospiatlisation the gathered energy from the food, drips and continuous rest helped me step out of the room and went to a tea shop nearby to inhale some fresh air and especially to get rid of the hospital smell. My brother brought an auto; with everything packed we left the hospital and reached home. My tenant’s daughter missed me huge; 2 year old and she came running to me and when I lifted her with a fear and hesitation of infection being transferred, she kissed me on both my cheeks to show how much she missed me as her only objective was to pour her love. She kissed me on my cheeks and the very moment I gained a thousand horse power. Alls well that ends well, now I am perfectly alright.

You went through a difficult stage ..

You are quite brave that you handled immense pain and the devil acts.

I just pray no one experience such trauma at the hands of devil nurses …
