Amit Agarwal – the ultimate blogger (Part 1)
I am so excited, because today I am going to focus on Amit Agarwal’s blog “Digital Inspiration” Labnol.org, who actually is one of my inspirations when I started this blog. He is a blogger since 2004 with no online experience before that, perhaps his achievement in my eyes is something great. I once happened to watch his interview with CNN IBN in Youtube, OMG simply amazing that he started making profit out of his blog through adsense in just a span of a year. Can you believe this? I have not seen his blogs rated with Problogger, Seth Godin, probably the reach is not enough. As a blog the international exposure may be quite lesser than them, perhaps the toll of his readers is steadily increasing and I have been following his blog and the popularity just the way I monitor mine in whatever ways it is possible.
He is a product of IIT and no wonder he is professionally so well-equipped. He launched his blog with Blogspot in 2004 and since then he has been shining in his field and the growth is just incomparable.
A scan of his blog
His blog is a way ahead of the other top bloggers. It is hightime we go through his applications so that that could be incorporated in our blogs just the way he did.
His main page is very interesting. The very main page has more than 20 articles that are recently published. In addition he has 8 guides on the bottom and 8 other different guides on the right hand side side-bar. Thirdly, he has a small column displaying his popular articles and last but not the least at the bottom he has two topics “Most Popular Archives” and “Browse Archives”. Actually all his articles are short and not many of his articles are more than 400 words. Therefore, readers may be prone to leave the site once after glancing articles perhaps he has balanced it by increasing the number of articles that could be showcased in a neat way that nobody will be prone to leave the site for the reason that the blog has more relevant articles and if one is not worth your time something else worthwhile will cross your eyes even if thats not the one you are looking for.
He is conscious about not missing any of the readers that visit his site.
If you do not know English, why to worry. There is a nice image placed right next to the blog’s heading to remind you to choose any language that you are comfortable with and the symbol itself communicates something that could be really helpful even if you do not know English. Secondly, he has placed a nice box in the upper half of his homepage inviting his readers to stay connected, in addition there is another invite on the top of the main page. There is a whole set of popular social networks badges placed twice on the homepage, one on the right-hand side side sidebar and the other on the bottom. An usual email subscription on a very visible area does not make a difference, perhaps the no. of readers that flickers makes the difference.
Facebook widget is seen at least 4 times on the main page and the Twitter and Youtube twice. In addition few other social networks too. He has given utmost importance to his readers and made it so easy for them to follow him/his blog through whichever social network they are comfortable with. No wonder why he has so many fans, at least 20k more than the fans of Problogger, can you believe that ?.
Side bar
There is a neat story about the blogger and an introduction of it placed right after the email subscriptions. This intro leads to the main page dedicated to inspire his readers with the way he happened to launch the blog and his demand in top-notch guys(I mean the companies for which he worked for). You read it yourself because I want you to be inspired by the way I have been inspired. There is a column by name “More resources” where few of them are dedicated to affiliate products and the rest closely related to all opportunities about blogging. He is so successful that he is inviting Indian bloggers to get rated from his blog.
There is something simply wonderful about his tags. Looks like these are categories, where once clicked on a tag it is displaying all the articles related to it. Usually with Blogspot as a platform it is quite difficult to do wonders like this. In addition something to be noted is that, once when a tag is clicked, all the articles will line up in one page such that Adsense will not appear between the heading and content. That is how it is with Blogspot, perhaps his blog shows a list of articles neatly arranged when clicked on a tag. This is easy to browse the article’s headings and easy to look for info.
Bottom-most
The bottom-most section is more about the author, how to follow the site and so on. Thats something that you can see yourself. The best thing is about the few sections that appears right under “Get news on Go”. These sections highlight Amit’s determination (stats), as a blogger if you want to get excited, inspired, motivated and understand how much being consistent is important, please visit this section. It is all about the growth, status and the strength of the site.
That’s all for the first part. The second part continues in a short while.
“Thank you for your time & Have a great day”
